South Korea: In case of war, the leadership of North Korea must be destroyed immediately

South Korea's defense minister considered the destruction of North Korea's leadership one of the military's priorities in a possible future war.

In recent years, the Korean peninsula has witnessed a re-escalation of tensions between Seoul and Pyongyang due to extensive US interventions. North Korea, which has now achieved nuclear deterrence, has repeatedly considered the actions of its southern neighbor in holding joint exercises with the United States on its borders as a threat to its security; An issue that Seoul does not believe in.

According to Teletrader, South Korea once again announced the necessity of targeting North Korean leaders.

Accordingly, South Korean Defense Minister Shin Won-sik announced today (Wednesday) in a speech: The Korean War Special Command must prepare to immediately destroy the enemy’s leadership if North Korea starts a war. .

Referring to the joint exercises between the US and South Korea on the Korean Peninsula, he added: The South Korean army must acquire operational systems that can immediately neutralize North Korea’s nuclear and missile networks, as well as operational capabilities to overcome strengthen the enemy in all fields.

The remarks come after North Korean leader Kim Jong-un last week called for an increase in simulated war drills to improve Pyongyang’s military capabilities for a full-scale war.

This is not the first time that the South Korean authorities announce the destruction of the North Korean leadership in the event of a war. However, since nuclear weapons are the highest level of deterrence, it is highly unlikely that Seoul or even the US would consider attacking North Korea.
