The text of the decree appointing Mahmoud Abbas Mustafa as the official to form the cabinet states: “We have decided to elect you as the prime minister and entrust you with the formation of the 19th government within the period stipulated in the constitution. »

“Mohammed Ashtiyeh” resigned last month after holding the position of Prime Minister of the Palestinian Authority for four years.

Muhammad Mustafa, born in 1954 (69 years old) and has been a member of the executive committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) since 2022.

He was also the deputy prime minister and minister of economy in previous governments, and since 2005 he has been the head of the Palestine Investment Fund.
