America’s green light to Baghdad to continue buying energy from Iran

The United States once again extended the exemption from sanctions that allows Iraq to import electricity and gas from Iran for 120 days.

According to Webangah News quoted by Mehr News Agency quoted by Rudaw, America, a new exemption He gave to Iraq that in line with the series of exemptions that started in 2018 and gives Baghdad the possibility to buy energy from Iran to provide its electricity needs.

This exemption is in line with the action of the United States in exempting Baghdad from Iran’s sanctions for buying electricity for 120 days.

According to this report, Meteo Miller the spokesperson of the US State Department announced that this exemption, which ends at the end of this month, was extended for the 21st time.

He went on to say that these exemptions are regularly issued to Iraq and go back to 2018.

The spokesperson of the US State Department claimed: No money is allowed to be transferred to Iran. All the money is kept in specific accounts and Iran can only use these resources for the purchase of medicine, food, medical equipment, agricultural products and other non-sanctioned transactions.
