Mike Pence: I do not support Trump
Former US Vice President Mike Pence said he does not support the return of his former boss Donald Trump to the White House. |
According to AFP, Pence emphasized on Friday night: It should not be surprising that I will not support Donald Trump this year.
In an interview with Fox News, he said that Trump is “pursuing and promoting an agenda that is at odds with the conservative agenda that we have been pursuing for four years in office.”
The 64-year-old Pence’s statements come while Trump and US President Joe Biden managed to get enough votes to run for the presidency in the internal elections of their parties.
Although the candidates of other parties are also participating in the elections, Pence refused to announce his support for them and at the same time emphasized that he will not vote for Biden in the November elections. Pence was one of the primary candidates for the US presidential election. , but due to his poor performance in the polls, he withdrew from the competition in October.
The American media described Pence’s new statements as “bomb” and “surprising”, but this is despite the fact that he and Trump have grown apart after leaving the White House.
Trump tried late in his term to pressure Pence to overturn the 2020 presidential election result that had been decided in favor of Biden. But Pence refused to do so. After this failure, Trump encouraged his supporters to attack the US Congress building on January 6, 2021 and prevent the US lawmakers from confirming Biden’s presidency.
Pence called this action “reckless” and said Trump’s actions in that incident “put me and my family in danger.”
