A fire in Cairo destroyed one of the most prestigious and oldest film production studios in the Arab world, which was established 80 years ago. |
Following a fire in Cairo’s “Al-Ahram” studio, which is considered one of the most important film studios in this country, all the equipment inside was burnt.
According to Arab News newspaper, the fire spread to three nearby buildings and the people living there were evacuated.
Security sources say that there were no casualties in this incident and only some people who suffered from smoke inhalation were treated at the scene of the incident.
Local media reported that the fire broke out 24 hours after the filming of a TV series finished during the holy month of Ramadan. According to security sources, the cause of the fire is still unknown, and firefighters needed more than six hours to extinguish it.
It should be noted that Al-Ahram Studio was established in 1944 and has an area of 27,000 square meters. Many Egyptian films and TV series were produced in this studio.
