The shadow of Russia’s attack on NATO/Latvia’s request from London to recruit!

Latvia's foreign minister says that Britain and its other NATO allies should recruit troops to counter the possible Russian threat.

report Mehr News Agency, referring to what he called the possible threat of Russia, Latvian Foreign Minister Chrisianis Karins asked England and its other allies in NATO to recruit soldiers.

Latvia has re-enacted conscription in response to Russia’s war in Ukraine. According to the new law, all male citizens between the ages of 18 and 27, including those who live abroad, must do one year of military service.

Karins said: “We strongly recommend that the UK and other countries should follow Latvia’s lead.” We are developing and describing a mechanism that we call comprehensive defense with the participation of all sectors of society.

He also urged London to increase defense spending by 3% of GDP, describing this action as “inevitable”. He added: NATO countries should consider the “all-round defense” model; A model in which a large number of citizen-soldiers can be called without prior notice.

Latvia’s senior diplomat stated: In this mechanism, Latvia has used the elements of Finland’s conscription system, which can be a very good model for many countries. Latvia has a small regular and permanent army, but at the same time, it has a very large and very elite reserve force for wartime and is easily able to call up to 250 thousand trained troops.

Patrick Sanders, the Commander-in-Chief of the British Armed Forces, in January called for the training and equipping of citizens for possible participation in the army in case of a direct confrontation with Russia. However, British Prime Minister Rishi Sonak has confirmed that there are no plans for conscription.
