Israel is eyeing private military contractors to build the mysterious US dock in Gaza

Israel seeks to downplay UNRWA's presence by proposing to use private military contractors to build the mysterious American dock in Gaza.

US officials told NBC News that Israel is considering using international private military companies (PMCs) to allegedly secure an American dock that will soon be deployed in the Gaza Strip.

According to the sources of this American network, Israeli officials have discussed this idea with senior officials of Joe Biden’s administration in recent weeks. After dropping minimal air aid to residents of the Gaza Strip, the Biden administration ordered the creation of a temporary dock on the central Gaza coast. The United States has taken another controversial step toward getting aid to starving Gazans by moving closer to a direct military presence in Palestine, instead of pressuring Israel to allow needed aid to enter through existing land crossings. In such a way that some experts believe that this port can be a route to send American military aid to Israel and also put more pressure on the people of Gaza.

Also, the central question remains regarding the logistics of providing aid to the millions of besieged Palestinians: Who will distribute the aid on the ground?

No US boots in Gaza

In his annual speech, Biden previously ordered the construction of a barrier in Gaza to send aid to the people of the strip. He claimed: “The boots of American soldiers will not be on the ground of Gaza”.

However, a former US official and two current US officials told NBC News a different story than what Biden promised. In fact, Israel had already contacted several security companies and suggested to US officials that other countries pay the “exorbitant” cost of private military contractors.

Only some US officials have resisted the idea of PMCs being in the Gaza Strip, especially if the contractors are US nationals.

Israel declined to comment on the NBC report, while the US government did not respond to requests for comment.

Hence, here comes the role of members of international private military companies and what the United States describes as Palestinian “partners” in the besieged territory.

A viable solution to this issue would be cooperation with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). However, the Biden administration decided to cut funding and ties with the largest international organization in the Gaza Strip.

According to two US officials NBC News spoke with, the US is also considering using Palestinian security providers in Gaza to help distribute aid.

NBC News explained: “Officials declined to elaborate on who those providers are, other than to say there are groups in Gaza separate from Hamas that could help.”

In short, US and Israeli officials are looking to use foreign private international military companies and non-resistance-affiliated Palestinian militants to manage one of the most unusual aid delivery methods in recent history.

Meanwhile, one of the senior officials of the Biden administration admitted to the American network that “truck delivery is still the most efficient way to deliver large amounts of aid to Gaza” and only Israel is blocking the delivery of these aids.
