The Permanent Representative of France to the United Nations emphasized: We need an immediate and lasting ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. We have been making this request since November. Such a cease-fire would allow for the widespread delivery of humanitarian aid and protect civilians.
De Riviere added that the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip is absolutely catastrophic. As the Secretary General said today, many Palestinian civilians are suffering from hunger and disease. This is not a natural disaster we are talking about. This is a war and it must stop now.
