according to the foreign policy group report Tasnim News, the representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations in a letter to the Security Council regarding developments Red Sea and Claims against Iran, wrote: While Tehran categorically rejects these baseless accusations, it considers them as an excuse that Washington and London use to advance their short-sighted political agenda, as well as to justify and legitimize their illegal actions and military aggression against Yemen.
The text of the letter from the Iranian delegation is as follows:
The present correspondence is in response to the issues raised during the recent public meeting of the Council The United Nations security around Yemen, which was formed on March 14, 2024 under the agenda of the situation in the Middle East (S/2024/9576), has been prepared. Unfortunately, in this meeting, the representatives of the United States of America and the United Kingdom once again misused the podium of the Security Council to make baseless claims against the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding the situation in the Red Sea and Yemen.
Tehran, while firmly rejecting these baseless accusations, considers them as an excuse that Washington and London use to advance their short-sighted political agenda, as well as to justify and legitimize their illegal actions and military aggression against Yemen.
Also, the Islamic Republic of Iran rejects the unjustified reference and unsubstantiated claim against Tehran in the statement read by the French representative in the above meeting. Tehran asks Paris as a permanent member of the Council to act more responsibly, and to refrain from labeling and making political accusations against other independent countries without reason.
Islamic Republic of Iran once again Condemns the ongoing military aggression and illegal use of force against Yemen by the so-called US-led coalition; The aggressions that clearly violate the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Yemen, international laws, the UN Charter and the relevant resolutions of the Security Council and are considered a serious threat to the peace and stability of the region.
Invoking self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter by the United States of America and the United Kingdom to justify their illegal actions is misleading and illegitimate according to international law.
Also. As stated in the previous correspondence of the Islamic Republic of Iran dated January 15 and February 19, 2024 (S/2024/64-S/2024/175), Tehran is still committed to its adherence to Security Council Resolutions 2140 (2014) and 2216 (2015). , and has not had any activities contrary to the aforementioned resolutions, including the sale or transfer of weapons or weapon systems.
Furthermore, the Islamic Republic of Iran has always rejected the peaceful resolution of the crisis. Through diplomatic channels, Yemen supports and emphasizes its commitment to maritime security and freedom of navigation.
