Stealing Europe from Russia for military aid to Ukraine!
The European Union intends to make up for Ukraine's defeats on the ground by spending frozen Russian assets on military support for Kiev. |
Following the escalation of tensions between the West and Russia, EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell called for the use of Russian assets to help Ukraine. Burrell stated in a message on the “X” network (former Twitter) that he proposed to the EU countries to use the blocked assets of Russia in Europe for military aid to Ukraine. Earlier, a senior European source had told reporters that such a plan is expected to be presented on Wednesday.
Burrell stated that he made such a proposal to help Ukraine “in order to win against Russia”. According to the EU foreign policy official, based on this plan, 90% of this income will be allocated to the European Peace Fund and another 10% to the EU budget, and he expressed hope that this plan will be approved in the near future. Previously, the European Union intended to use the income from the frozen assets of Russia for the reconstruction of Ukraine, but recently the EU countries in Brussels stated that due to the difficult situation of the “battlefield” and the lack of weapons and ammunition in Ukraine, this amount ” be spent on military support for Ukraine”.
After the start of the Russian military operation in Ukraine, the European Union and the countries of the Group of Seven (G7) blocked almost half of Russia’s foreign exchange reserves amounting to 300 billion euros, of which about 200 billion euros are in the European Union. The Kremlin has emphasized that taking such decisions is another step in violating all the rules and norms of international law, and the Russian Foreign Ministry has also called the blocking of Russian assets in Europe theft.
