According to the above announcement, this air operation was carried out in retaliation for the killing and wounding of 5 Turkish soldiers in northern Iraq by PKK forces.
It should be mentioned that in yesterday’s attack by PKK members on a Turkish unit in the Panjah-e-Khole operational area in northern Iraq, one soldier of this country was killed and 4 other soldiers were wounded.
Also, as a result of the exchange of fire between the parties, 6 members of the separatist group PKK were killed.
In the notification of the Ministry of National Defense of Turkey, it is stated that the air operation was carried out in northern Iraq within the framework of Article 51 of the United Nations and based on the right of legitimate defense, and there was no damage to civilians, ancient and cultural monuments.
It should be mentioned that the operation of Turkish commandos under the name of “Locking Claw” has been going on since April 1401 in the heights of Avashin-Basyan, Zap and Matina of the provinces of Dohuk and Kirkuk in Iraq.
