White House: Support for Israel is a cross-partisan issue in America

John Kirby, the spokesman for the National Security Council of the White House, stated in a press conference that support for Israel in the United States is a non-partisan policy.

Benjamin Netanyahu held a video meeting with Republican senators on Wednesday following the strong criticism of him by the leader of the Democrats in the Senate.

The strong criticism of Netanyahu by Chuck Schumer, the leader of the majority party in the Senate, has faced opposition from Republican lawmakers in the United States and a sharp reaction from a group of Israeli officials.

In response to a question about Netanyahu’s meeting with Republican senators, Kirby said: “The [Israeli] prime minister has the right to decide who he wants to deal with and how to resolve issues.”

He added: “But I think it is important to note that support for Israel and Israel’s right to sovereignty has always been a non-partisan issue in this country.”

The American government has been the main supporter of the Israeli regime since the beginning of the war in Gaza and has fueled the war in various ways, including vetoing ceasefire resolutions and sending weapons.

Several Western media reports in the past days indicate that the Joe Biden administration has given Israel the green light to carry out operations in Rafah.
