Britain and Australia signed a new military agreement

Britain and Australia signed a new military agreement to exchange information or facilitate the training and presence of military forces in the two countries.

England and Australia today announced the signing of a new defense agreement in Canberra, which allows the two sides to exchange military forces and information.

According to Al Jazeera report, according to British Defense Minister Grant Shapps and Australian Defense Minister Richard Marles, the new document includes what is called the Status of Forces Agreement, which allows the forces of the two countries to cooperate with each other in their countries.

Referring to what is happening in Ukraine, the British Defense Minister asked other countries to increase their military readiness. This agreement does not constitute a full mutual defense treaty that obligates one party to intervene in the event of an attack or threat by the other. Instead, both sides said they were obligated to consult with each other in the event of a threat.

The two countries signed a military agreement with the United States known as ACOS a few years ago to counter what the three capitals called China’s military ambitions in the Pacific Ocean. One of the cornerstones of the ACOS agreement is the commitment to help Australia build a fleet of powerful nuclear submarines.

Thursday’s agreement would also allow Australian sailors to use British nuclear submarines for training or facilitate the presence of British submarine crews stationed in Australia.
