According to the report of the international group Tasnim News Agency, Amir Saeed Irwani, the ambassador and permanent representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations, said at the UN Security Council meeting about the “Middle East situation: (Syria)” that the Syrian people will not accept the continued occupation of their land or any violation of their sovereignty. The international community must stand against such actions.

The text of the Iranian representative’s speech is as follows: This month marks the 13th anniversary of the beginning of the conflict in Syria. During these thirteen years, the Syrian people have suffered a lot and this conflict has had adverse consequences on peace, security and stability throughout the region.

Since the beginning of the conflict in 2011 Some countries have pursued their political agenda in Syria through military solutions. While ignoring the basic principles of the United Nations Charter, they have violated the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria and supported terrorist and separatist groups.

Unfortunately, after thirteen years , these countries resort to sanctions as a means to achieve goals that they could not achieve through military or diplomatic channels.

Mr. President, addressing the root causes of the crisis in Syria requires fundamental measures to ensure lasting peace, security and stability. Several key principles must be fully respected by all parties involved.

First, it must be accepted that there is no military solution to this crisis. In the same way, measures such as politicizing humanitarian aid, preventing the return of refugees and displaced people, and especially imposing unilateral sanctions, will only lead to the prolongation of the crisis and the aggravation of the suffering of the Syrian people.

Secondly, the conflict cannot be resolved without fully supporting the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic. Under no circumstances can such basic elements be ignored.

Syrian people do not accept the continued occupation of their land or any violation of their sovereignty. The international community must stand against such actions, because such actions are in conflict with the basic principles of international law.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has once again requested the immediate withdrawal of all forces. The uninvited foreigner from Syria repeats. In particular, we emphasize the necessity of the withdrawal of American forces occupying parts of Syrian territory. In addition, the restoration of the territorial integrity of Syria requires an effort to fight without interruption against all terrorist groups. strengthen and commit more crimes. Such a stop will prolong the conflict and make it more difficult to reach a political solution. However, it is necessary to pay special attention to the protection of civilians during counterterrorism efforts.

The Islamic Republic of Iran considers the Israeli regime’s illegal military attacks in Syria provocative and strongly condemns Such illegal attacks only serve to escalate tensions and undermine stability. The Zionist regime must accept the responsibility of these aggressive actions and end them immediately.

Mr. President, while providing immediate aid is very important, this is a long-term and sustainable solution. It is not reliable. Efforts should be focused on rebuilding critical infrastructure, creating conditions for the safe return of refugees and internally displaced persons, and advancing the political process. Therefore, the Islamic Republic of Iran calls for the immediate cancellation of unilateral sanctions. The continuation of such inhumane actions violates the basic rights of the Syrian people, punishes the entire Syrian people, and aggravates the plight of the most vulnerable sections of the society. In addition, due to the complex and extensive nature of these sanctions, so-called humanitarian exemptions are often ineffective.

Mr. President, the Islamic Republic of Iran is committed to solving The crisis is through political solution. We will continue to support the Syrian-led and UN-facilitated political process, as well as help the Syrian people and government to restore the unity and territorial integrity of their country.

We support the efforts of Mr. Pederson, the Special Envoy and Representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations for the affairs of the Syrian Arab Republic, to resume the meetings of the Constitutional Committee as an effective mechanism to advance the political process. In this regard, Tehran welcomes his recent visit to Damascus and interaction with the Syrian authorities.

The Islamic Republic of Iran, together with its partners, is committed to efforts in the Astana negotiations. It is aimed at long-term and stable normalization in and around Syria. We support the continuation of the dialogue between Syria and Turkey as part of this effort.

We also support efforts and cooperation within the framework of the Astana talks to find out the fate of the disappeared people. . Finally, it is very important that all possible efforts are made to facilitate the safe and dignified return of Syrian refugees to their homeland and to meet their humanitarian needs.
