He also emphasized that the Biden government adheres to the spirit and text of all sanctions laws related to Iran, and said that Washington has not received any request from Islamabad to lift these sanctions.

In response to a question that if Pakistan is seeking to implement the pipeline, why has it not applied for an exemption from the US sanctions, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan clarified: The decision of the Pakistani government to advance the Iran-Pakistan pipeline is within the framework of a sovereign decision. Pakistan is to build a pipeline inside its own territory. This is a part of the pipeline that is being built inside Pakistan. Therefore, we do not believe that there is room for discussion or third party waiver at this stage.

He emphasized that Islamabad has repeatedly emphasized its commitment to the Iran-Pakistan pipeline and the mutual understanding between Pakistan and Iran, and added: We continue to work with our partners.
