Diplomatic sources told Al Jazeera that the UN Security Council postponed the vote on the draft resolution presented by the seven non-permanent countries regarding a ceasefire in Gaza during Ramadan until after tomorrow, Monday.
These sources added that the postponement of the voting on the draft resolution took place after Washington entered into negotiations on it.
Diplomatic sources told AFP that a UN Security Council vote on a new draft resolution calling for an “immediate” ceasefire in Gaza would be held on Saturday in an effort to avoid another setback after Russia used And China postponed its veto on Friday against the US draft until Monday.
These sources explained that the decision to adjourn was made to allow for further discussions on the alternative draft resolution prepared by a number of non-permanent council members.
On Friday, Russia and China used their veto in the Security Council against the US draft resolution on Gaza, which was in favor of the Zionist aggression.
