America’s reaction to sending French troops to Ukraine
The White House announced that it has no objection to sending troops from France and other NATO countries to Ukraine. |
John Kirby, the National Security Adviser of the White House, announced that Washington has no objection to sending French and other NATO troops to Ukraine.
In response to a journalist’s question about Macron’s words and the sending of French soldiers to Ukraine, Kirby replied: These are independent decisions that each country should make for itself.
Kirby also added that the United States has already announced that it will not send troops to Ukraine.
Macron has increased his rhetoric about Russia a few weeks after a number of French nationals were killed in a Russian missile attack. At the EU summit in Paris in late February, he did not rule out the possibility of NATO intervention in Ukraine, which he did a few weeks later. However, Jens Stoltenberg, the alliance’s secretary general, later announced that the alliance had no such plans. At the same time, according to Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service, Macron has currently only talked about sending two thousand troops.
