Student hunger strike in Canada to support Gaza

A number of students of a prominent Canadian university started a hunger strike in protest of this institution's investment in companies related to the Zionist regime.

A group of Canadian McGill University students have been on a hunger strike since three weeks ago to force this university to stop helping and cooperating with companies that support the Israeli army.

According to the Guardian, documents on McGill’s website show that the university has invested in companies including Lockheed Martin and Safran. Lockheed Martin is a defense contractor that has previously sold fighter jets to the Zionist regime, and Safran is a French defense and aerospace company.

Rania Amin, a McGill undergraduate student who is on the 33rd day of her hunger strike, said: “The university has left us no choice. They ignore peaceful protests. McGill led us to do this radical protest. We have put our bodies, health and lives at risk to let them know that using our tuition money to invest in this way is completely unacceptable.”

Students have asked McGill, one of Canada’s most prestigious universities, to withdraw about 20 million dollars of its capital from various companies (which are related to military industries).

The food strike in this university is happening while before, students and faculty members had been protesting and sitting in the university environment for months.
