Biden signed into law a congressional resolution to end aid to UNRWA

US President Joe Biden signed the $1.2 trillion US budget bill that was approved by the country's Congress and turned it into law.

The United States was the organization’s largest funder, but decided to cut aid to it based on allegations about the involvement of UNRWA members in the October 7 operation.

This law has a clause that calls for the termination of US aid to the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNRWA).

The report of the American media indicates that according to this bill, the American aid to UNRWA will be cut off until March 2025.

Israel’s accusations that a group of UNRWA workers cooperated with Hamas forces to carry out the Al-Aqsa storm operation in occupied Palestine caused several countries, led by the United States, to suspend their aid to this international aid organization.

Some countries have since announced that they have resumed their aid to UNRWA. Finland’s Minister of Development and Foreign Trade Will Tavio announced on Friday that the country will resume financial aid to UNRWA.

Previously, some countries such as Canada, Australia, Sweden resumed aid to UNRWA, and some Persian Gulf countries such as Saudi Arabia increased the amount of financial aid to this aid organization.

UNRWA is one of the few organizations affiliated to the United Nations that is providing humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.
