American Ambassador: The defeat of ISIS in Iraq is not yet complete

Elena Romanovsky, the American ambassador in Baghdad, claimed: “ISIS is still a threat in Iraq, and the work of the international coalition led by the United States with Iraq for the final defeat of this group is not yet complete.”

According to Baghdad Al-Youm, senior Iraqi politicians including “Mohammed Shia al-Sudani”, the prime minister of Iraq, have repeatedly stated that ISIS is no longer a threat in Iraq and there is no need for the presence of the international coalition in this country.

Romanovski added. “We believe that ISIS is still a threat in Iraq, the threat of this group is greatly reduced, but nevertheless our work is not finished in the final form, we want to make sure that Iraqi forces can continue to permanently defeat ISIS.”

These words of the American ambassador came after the ISIS branch in Afghanistan claimed responsibility for Friday’s attack on a concert near Moscow in which 152 people were killed. The American ambassador in Baghdad stated: “This event reminds us, ISIS is a common terrorist enemy that must be defeated everywhere.”

He claimed: “That is why the United States The United States and Iraq share a commitment to ensure the lasting defeat of ISIS, including efforts to forge joint and bilateral security cooperation between the United States and Iraq.”
