Holding the Emergency Committee of the Inter-Parliamentary Union World Summit in Geneva

The Emergency Committee of the Inter-Parliamentary Union World Summit was held with the competition of six thematic and regional items. South Africa, the regime of Israel, Indonesia, Argentina, Congo and Denmark had three minutes to talk about the necessity of placing their request on the agenda of the emergency committee.

As a result of the anti-Zionist atmosphere of the summit, the Israeli regime was forced to withdraw its request.

The delegation of our country headed by Mojtaba Rezakhah announced their nineteen votes in favor of South Africa.

In the end, despite the fact that the item from South Africa won the most votes with 904 votes, but due to not getting two-thirds of the votes, none of the items succeeded in qualifying the item of the necessary committee.

According to this report, the 148th meeting of the Union of International Councils has started in Geneva on Saturday, April 4, 1403.

The World Inter-Parliamentary Union was established as the largest parliamentary body with more than 180 members from the world’s parliaments since 1889.

This session of the assembly meeting with the slogan “parliamentary diplomacy, building a bridge for peace and understanding” was held from February 4 to 8, 1402 in Geneva.

It has been decided that the Assembly will pass resolutions on emergency issues and the issue discussed by the International Peace and Security Committee under the title “Attention to the social and human effects of automatic weapon systems and artificial intelligence” and another issue in the Sustainable Development Committee under the title “Participation In the field of climate action: development of access to clean and affordable energy and ensuring innovation, responsibility and equality.

It should be said; A delegation representing our country from the Islamic Council headed by Mojtabi Reza Khah and with the presence of Abbas Golro, Elham Azad, Ahmed Naderi, Mojtabi Yousefi and Rahim Zare participated in this meeting and participated in four specialized committees including the assembly of representatives, the seminar of women representatives, International peace and security, democracy, human rights, sustainable development and UN affairs participate.

On the first day of this meeting, meetings of the parliaments of Islamic countries and the Assembly of Asian Parliaments were held, and the Iranian delegation in these meetings emphasized the necessity of unanimity of the parliaments of Islamic and Asian countries against the crimes of the Zionist regime.

It is worth mentioning that on the sidelines of the meeting, the delegation of the Islamic Council met with the Secretary General of the Inter-Majlis Union.
