Austrian media: Terrorist suspects are coming to the European Union from Ukraine

The Austrian media "Heite" reported that a large number of suspected terrorists have traveled to the European Union through the territory of Ukraine.

Ukraine may have become a convenient transit point for violent extremists seeking to enter the European Union, Austrian print newspaper reported, citing security officials.

According to the Rashatoudi news channel, this newspaper also mentioned the arrest of 2 citizens of Tajikistan and Chechnya last December in Germany and Austria on suspicion of plotting a terrorist attack in Vienna. These suspects were looking to attack St. Stephen’s Church in Vienna and wanted to use Kalashnikovs and explosives.
According to law enforcement officials, this newspaper wrote that the suspects were part of a wider terrorist network known as “ISIS Khorasan”.

According to western media reports, this terrorist group is also responsible for the terrorist attack last Friday on Moscow’s Crocus concert hall, which left 137 dead and more than 180 injured.

Austria’s Heite newspaper also wrote: These terrorist suspects have entered Europe through Ukraine without anyone noticing.

Austrian prosecutors said in December that the suspects in the Vienna plot were “extremely radical”, had shared beliefs and appeared to be part of a network planning attacks in Cologne and Madrid in late 2023.
