Assange won the appeals court

London's High Court ruled today (Tuesday) that Britain's agreement in 2022 to extradite WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange will be subject to a full appeal hearing.

According to ISNA news agency, Sange’s lawyers argue that this action is a violation of the agreement between the United Kingdom and the United States, which prohibits extradition for political crimes. Now, with this ruling, Assange can challenge the case related to his extradition to America in the English courts.

U.S. prosecutors are seeking to prosecute 52-year-old Assange on espionage charges related to the release of classified documents on the WikiLeaks website related to the U.S.-led wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, according to Rashatoudi news network. /p>
Assange, who is an Australian citizen, was transferred to Belmarsh maximum security prison in London in April 2019 on charges of violating bail. He is being prosecuted under the US Espionage Act for obtaining confidential information and disclosing it in the public space. If convicted, Assange may face 175 years in prison!

He failed to persuade the English Court of Appeal to oppose his extradition in June of last year, and now has limited options, including filing a complaint with the European Court of Human Rights.

The founder of WikiLeaks is wanted in the United States for publishing hundreds of thousands of leaked documents related to the war in Afghanistan and Iraq. Assange spent nearly five years in Belmarsh prison in England.

Wikileaks documents show how the US military killed hundreds of civilians in unreported incidents during the war in Afghanistan. The leaked files from the Iraq war also show that 66,000 civilians were killed by Iraqi forces and prisoners were tortured.
