Zelensky fired the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine
Volodymyr Zelenskiy signed the order to dismiss Alexei Danilov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine. |
On Tuesday, Volodymyr Zelensky dismissed Alexei Danilov as the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine and appointed Alexander Litvinenko, who was the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service, as the new Minister of National Security.
In the text published on Zelenskiy’s website on Tuesday, it is stated: Alexei Myachslavovich Danilov was dismissed from the position of the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.
In another order, Zelensky appointed Oleksandr Litvinenko, the head of Ukraine’s foreign intelligence service, to the position of secretary of the National Security and Defense Council and removed him from his current position.
Oleg Ivashchenko was also appointed as the new head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine.
No reason has been given for the removal of Danilov, who took over the post in October 2019, but it comes in the third year of Russia’s war against Ukraine.
Last September, Zelenskiy fired Ukraine’s defense minister and six deputy defense ministers, possibly due to poor efforts to counter Russian forces.
