Wall Street Journal: Behind the scenes, America agrees with Israel’s operation in Rafah

The American media wrote that the United States, contrary to its apparent opposition to the attack of the Zionist regime in Rafah, is not seeking to stop it behind the scenes, but rather is facilitating the attack.

During the 2-day meeting and negotiation between the Zionist War Minister Yoav Gallant and senior American officials in the White House and the Pentagon about the planned operation in Rafah, the topic of discussion was not how to stop it, but how to protect civilians. /p>

On Wednesday, the Wall Street Journal wrote with this introduction that the tone of the conversation between Americans and Israelis in Washington has changed from the previous weeks; When American officials loudly warned Israel about a full-scale attack on Rafah, but “Benjamin Netanyahu” still insists on carrying out this attack.

Rafah in the south of Gaza hosts about 1.5 Palestinian refugees who have taken refuge in this area located on the Egyptian border following the attacks on the north and center of this strip. Netanyahu claims that the last headquarters of Hamas are located in this area.

The American media reported that during Gallant’s consultation with American officials in Washington, “pragmatic discussions were held about Israel’s phased operation in Rafah in order to reduce potential civilian casualties and ensure that Israel destroys the four Hamas battalions in Rafah”.

The Minister of War of the Zionist regime said after his meetings with the American officials in the White House: “I think there is an understanding on the disintegration of Hamas”.

These statements by American and Israeli officials come while Tel Aviv has repeatedly said the destruction of Hamas in northern Gaza, but American media have reported that thousands of Hamas forces are still present in these areas.

The Wall Street Journal further wrote that US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin pressed Gallant in a meeting on Tuesday to make effective arrangements to protect civilians before launching an attack on Rafah.

“It’s a sequence,” says a US defense official. The military dimension of the operation should not proceed until its human dimension is fully taken into account.

The American media wrote that the two sides agreed that the Hamas battalions in Rafah should be disbanded so that its forces cannot return to the previous situation or continue importing weapons to Gaza.

They have said that these measures are a prerequisite for ending the war and paving the way for a new political government in Gaza. In the absence of better options, this means trying to find ways to cooperate with Tel Aviv in its strategy to attack Rafah.

Egyptian officials have said that after the failure of negotiations in Doha, Israeli officials have told the mediators that if they fail to reach a ceasefire agreement, the army of this regime will start operations in Rafah as soon as the month of Ramadan ends. They also said that the negotiations may resume at the end of this week, this time in Cairo.

The Wall Street Journal continued its report and referring to the persistence of differences between Tel Aviv and Washington over the attack on Rafah, according to the words of the American defense official: “Our goal is to help Israel find an alternative to full-scale military operations or Maybe we will find it soon”.

Further talks are planned between US and Israeli officials to resolve the remaining complex issues.
