The Kremlin demanded that Telegram pay more attention to the misuse of terrorist groups

After reports about terrorist groups using Telegram to recruit members and play a role in Moscow attacks, Russia demanded more attention to this messenger.

After some media claimed that the terrorists involved in the attack on the concert hall on the outskirts of Moscow used the Telegram messaging app to recruit members, the Kremlin asked the app’s owner to be more careful.

According to Reuters, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov says he has no plans to block Telegram, but expects more attention from Pavel Durov.
It should be noted that Telegram is now based in Dubai and its owner has dual Emirati-French citizenship. Forbes estimated Durov’s wealth at $15.5 billion.

Friday’s terrorist attack in Russia has left 143 dead so far. During this attack, the attackers simultaneously set fire to the concert hall in the city of Crocus on the outskirts of Moscow and started shooting.

The Russian Intelligence Service has arrested a number of suspects in connection with this matter. On Sunday, four of these people appeared in a Moscow court and confessed to their crime after being charged. The Moscow court announced that these people, who are all citizens of Tajikistan, will be kept in temporary custody until May 22.
