Pakistan: Islamabad’s policy in advancing the gas project with Iran is clear

In response to the statements of his American counterpart against Iran's gas pipeline project, the spokesperson of Pakistan's foreign ministry said: "Islamabad's policy in advancing this project is clear."

Mumtaz Zahra said today in his weekly press conference in Islamabad, in response to questions regarding the recent positions of the spokesperson of the United States Department of State against the joint Iran-Pakistan gas project: The policy of the Islamabad government regarding the advancement of the joint gas project with Iran is clear.

Remembering his words last week regarding the commitment of the Pakistani government to the Iranian gas pipeline and the decision to build the pipeline inside Pakistan, he added: The construction of the pipeline in Pakistan will start soon.

Mumtaz Zahra emphasized that Pakistan’s Ministry of Petroleum is pursuing issues related to the gas pipeline, including the issue of exemption from unilateral US sanctions, and at the same time, it is examining all options to supply the energy needed by Pakistan.

In recent days, the spokesperson of the US Foreign Ministry, in continuation of his country’s stone-throwing in the path of cooperation between Tehran and Islamabad, announced that Washington does not support the continuation of the plan to build a gas transmission pipeline between Iran and Pakistan.

At the same time, he clarified: We always warn everyone that doing business with Iran entails the risk of dealing with US sanctions, and we advise everyone to carefully examine this issue.

Regarding the recent terrorist attack on Chinese engineers in Pakistan, Momtaz Zahra expressed solidarity with the Chinese government and people while condemning this terrorist act and added: “High-level investigations are underway to identify the perpetrators of this attack.”

He emphasized: China and Pakistan know their common enemies and we clearly declare that any country, group or any person who targets Chinese nationals in Pakistan is considered an enemy of us and China.

Pakistan’s foreign ministry spokesman said: Our strategic and long-standing relations with China are of great importance, and Islamabad believes that the enemies of the two countries are trying to destroy our relations.

The Chinese Embassy in Islamabad, hours after the death of five citizens of this country in a suicide attack on Tuesday (7 April) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, asked the government of Pakistan and its security agencies to increase security measures to protect the lives of Chinese citizens in Pakistan. give.

The spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry also demanded a full and immediate investigation on the terrorist incident from the Pakistani side.

The sensitivity of the attack on Chinese nationals was so great that the Prime Minister and Interior Minister of Pakistan immediately went to the Chinese Embassy and assured during a meeting with the ambassador of that country that the perpetrators of the terrorist attack will be identified and punished.
