The meeting of the head of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service with the Minister of Security of North Korea

The press office of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) reported on Thursday that Sergei Naryshkin discussed closer bilateral cooperation and regional security with North Korean State Security Minister Ri Chang-dae during his visit to Pyongyang.

During this meeting, the parties discussed urgent international issues, regional security and closer interaction between Russia and North Korea, considering the efforts of foreign parties to intensify pressure against them.

According to Tass, the negotiations “were held in a warm and friendly atmosphere, and the unity of approaches on the discussed issues was clear.

Russia and North Korea have intensified their bilateral exchanges in the second half of 2023. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un visited Russia in September. On September 13, he had a conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov also visited North Korea in October 2023.
