UNICEF: Sleeping in the Gaza Strip is like lying in a coffin
Referring to the dire conditions of the Gaza Strip, the spokesperson of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) emphasized that sleeping in this area is like lying in a coffin. |
James Elder, referring to the nightly bombing of the Gaza Strip by the Zionist regime, called for a ceasefire in this area, including in the city of Rafah.
He stated: After the recent resolution of the United Nations Security Council, hopes for a ceasefire in this region have been revived.
The spokesperson of UNICEF noted: The nightly bombing of Gaza destroys these hopes. Meanwhile, the children of Gaza hope that this nightmare will end one day.
The immediate ceasefire resolution in Gaza was finally approved by the United Nations Security Council on Monday local time, April 6, 1403, equal to March 25, 2024, after nearly 6 months of war in Gaza. The resolution calls for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza during Ramadan to lead to a lasting ceasefire.
14 members out of 15 members of the UN Security Council voted positively and supported the resolution presented by the non-permanent members of this council to establish an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, and the United States of America, as a permanent member of this council, voted for it. He abstained and thus the resolution to establish a ceasefire in Gaza was approved.
America had previously vetoed three ceasefire resolutions, but this time it abstained from voting on this resolution, and in this way, due to the lack of opposition from the permanent members of the Security Council, this resolution was approved without any opposition.
