Japan resumes funding to UNRWA
The Japanese government has announced that it is preparing to resume financial aid to the UN's Palestinian refugee agency (UNRWA). |
Japanese Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa met with UNRWA chief Philippe Lazzarini in Tokyo and announced in a statement that the two sides will make final arrangements to resume aid.
According to the Japan Times, aid to UNRWA, which was suspended in January, will probably resume in the first half of April (next month).
After the Zionist regime claimed that 12 of UNRWA’s 13,000 employees in Gaza were involved in the Al-Aqsa storm operation, Japan along with several other countries suspended its financial aid.
The sudden funding freeze hampered the agency’s efforts to provide essential aid to Gaza. But after the Zionist regime failed to provide evidence for its claim, other countries, such as Australia, Canada and Sweden, announced that they would resume aid to UNRWA.
