Iran’s letter to the Security Council regarding the aggression of the Zionist regime

According to the international group Tasnim News Agency, Zahra Ershadi, Deputy Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations Hamedeh wrote in a letter to the Security Council:

The current correspondence was prepared following the clear violation of the norms and principles of international law by the Israeli regime. The occupying regime of Israel has launched a heinous and hateful terrorist attack against the diplomatic facilities of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Syrian Arab Republic. In the afternoon of April 1, 2024, at 4:45 p.m., the diplomatic facilities of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Damascus were targeted by Israeli air and missile attacks from the occupied Golan Heights. This terrorist attack led to the tragic martyrdom of at least five Iranian personnel, including senior military advisers, and the complete destruction of Iran’s diplomatic facilities.
 
These heinous crimes and cowardly terrorist attacks are a clear violation of the United Nations Charter, international law and the basic principle of immunity of diplomatic and consular posts (as expressly stated in the 1961 Convention on Diplomatic Relations, the 1963 Vienna Convention on Consular Relations and also The Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of Crimes against Internationally Protected Persons, including Diplomatic Agents, 1973, is referred to. These horrible crimes are also a threat to the peace and security of the region.
 
Considering the wide international consequences of such horrible crimes that can intensify tensions in the region and potentially ignite more conflicts with other countries, the Islamic Republic of Iran asks the Security Council to take criminal action and attack. condemn the terrorist regime of Israel in the strongest possible way. In addition, the Islamic Republic of Iran asks the Security Council to take any necessary measures, including holding an urgent meeting to deal with this gross violation and to prevent future aggressive actions that endanger the security and safety of diplomatic missions, and also to Justice should ensure the quick delivery of those responsible for such criminal acts.
 
The aggressor Zionist regime is fully responsible for the consequences of such terrorist crimes. The Islamic Republic of Iran reserves its legitimate and inherent right based on international laws and the United Nations Charter to respond decisively to such terrorist acts.
