El-Sisi was sworn in as president for the third time in a row

Abdel Fattah al-Sisi was sworn in today for the third consecutive term after winning more than 89% of the votes in the recent Egyptian elections.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi took the oath of the constitution in front of the House of Representatives in the administrative capital of Egypt, east of Cairo, for the third term of 6 years.

According to Al-Hura report, this ceremony took place after Al-Sisi won 89.6 percent in the elections at the end of last year. He described the characteristics of what he described as “national action” in his speech after taking the oath of the constitution, stating that at the level of foreign relations, the priority will be to protect Egypt’s national security and to strengthen balanced relations with all parties in a new world whose characteristics are is forming, will try.

He added that at the political level, national dialogues are completed and deepened, and the agreed recommendations are implemented at different political, economic and social levels. Al-Sisi also pointed to the adoption of strategies to increase Egypt’s economic resources, increase the flexibility of the economy in the face of crises, achieve strong and balanced economic growth and promote the role of the private sector, and emphasized on maximizing the economic role of the Suez Canal.

On December 18, the National Election Organization announced that El-Sisi (69 years old) won the presidency for 6 years by winning 39.7 million votes, or 89.6% of the total valid votes. El-Sisi, Minister of Defense and former army commander, came to power in July 2013 after a coup against former President Mohamed Morsi.

He won the 2014 and 2018 elections with more than 96% of the votes. El-Sisi then proposed amending the constitution to make his second term 6 years instead of 4 so he could run for a third term.
