Baku: Any provocative military action by Armenia will be resolutely suppressed

Following the new round of border shootings between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Armenia, Baku on Tuesday warned against any military moves by the other side.

On Tuesday, the Republic of Azerbaijan once again accused Armenia of shooting along the common border between the two countries.

According to “TRT” news channel, this is the latest border tension between two neighboring countries in the North Caucasus region.

The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan announced: “Units of the Armenian Armed Forces fired with light weapons at the positions of the Azerbaijani Army near the Autonomous Republic of Nakhchivan.”

The heads of the two countries have repeatedly expressed optimism about the prospect of reaching a lasting peace agreement, but territorial disputes carry the constant risk of renewed conflict.

Most of the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh was liberated by the Republic of Azerbaijan during the war in the fall of 2020.

Rejecting Baku’s new claim, the Ministry of Defense of Armenia said that this claim does not correspond to reality. Yerevan, on the other hand, accused Baku that the forces of this country fired first.

Allegations of new conflicts are raised after the Republic of Azerbaijan accused Armenia on Monday of gathering military forces, armored vehicles, artillery near the border.

Azerbaijan announced that it is monitoring the movements of Armenian forces in different directions.

Baku announced: “We warn that in case of any provocative military action by the armed forces of Armenia, it will be resolutely suppressed by the army of the Republic of Azerbaijan.”
