Maria Zakharova, spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, said on Wednesday that French forces may be ready to deploy in Ukraine in April.
Zakharova said in this regard: New information has been published by Paris about the preparation of a military group to be sent to Ukraine. For this purpose, the command of the French Foreign Legion approved the formation of a battalion tactical group consisting of 1,500 people in early March.
He added: This group is expected to reach full combat readiness in April to intervene in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron said that sending Western troops to Ukraine cannot be ruled out in the future, stressing that “all options” to help Kiev are “possible”.
