Biden and Netanyahu’s phone conversation following Israel’s deadly attack on aid workers in the Gaza Strip

An American official announced on Thursday afternoon local time: US President Joe Biden and Benjamin Netanyahu are now talking on the phone.

This is the first conversation between Biden and Netanyahu since the deadly Israeli airstrike that killed seven aid workers of the World Kitchen Central organization.

A senior US government official also told CNN: After this attack, Biden is “angry” and “increasingly unhappy”. Another American official also said that Biden is going to tell Netanyahu all these things in his phone conversation.

In the meantime, White House officials have emphasized following the death of these seven aid workers, one of whom is an American, that the US position in supporting Israel’s current military attacks and operations in the Gaza Strip has not changed.

CNN news network said that Biden is expected to discuss several other issues with Netanyahu in addition to the need for better protection of aid workers in Gaza.

US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said on Wednesday that Washington wants Israel’s investigation into the attack that killed seven aid workers from the World Kitchen Center in Gaza to end as soon as possible.

A US State Department spokesman told reporters that Israel must take better coordinated measures to protect humanitarian workers and protect all civilians. At the same time, “Stephane Dujarric”, the spokesperson of the United Nations, announced to reporters on Wednesday that the organization has stopped the night aid delivery in the Gaza Strip for at least 48 hours to carry out security assessments. Dujarric said the move, which affects the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), is being carried out to assess security concerns in the region.

The UN spokesman added that the World Food Program continues its operations throughout the day, including daily efforts to send convoys to northern Gaza “where people are dying”.

He told reporters: “With famine approaching, we need humanitarian staff and equipment to be able to move freely and safely throughout the Gaza Strip.”

The non-governmental organization “World Central Kitchen” announced in a statement that the Israeli attacks on Monday, April 1, 2024 in Gaza killed seven aid workers of this organization. In this incident, their Palestinian driver also lost his life.

This attack happened hours after the members of this non-governmental group arrived in the Gaza Strip with a ship containing food aid and went to its northern areas.

Also, pictures were published of the bodies of five dead people who were in Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in the city of Deir al-Balah in the center of Gaza, and some of them were wearing clothes with charity logos.

According to the statement of this organization, the dead were Australian, Polish, Canadian-American, British and Palestinian.
