Wall Street Journal: Ukrainian soldiers search for bullets in swamps

The shortage of ammunition of the Ukrainian army is to such an extent that its soldiers are looking for unused bullets of the Russian army in the swamps.

This publication quoted Maksim Poliokhovich, who is one of the military officers of the Ukrainian army, as saying that the soldiers have to dive in the mud and even walk several kilometers through minefields to find new bullets.

At the same time, the Politico magazine has recently announced the “dark” future of the Ukrainian army and says that there is a danger of the front lines of this country collapsing.

Ukraine has been facing a significant shortage of ammunition in recent months. Meanwhile, the support for this country in the US Congress is decreasing.

On the other hand, the meeting that NATO members recently held on the occasion of the anniversary of the establishment of this military alliance, ended without any specific promises to help Ukraine. Members of the NATO military alliance agreed to review their arsenals to send more air defense systems to Ukraine at a ceremony marking the alliance’s 75th anniversary on Thursday. However, no concrete promise was announced by NATO.

In March, Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Ivan Havrilyuk said that stocks of certain types of ammunition in Ukraine had fallen to critical levels, making it difficult for the Ukrainian military to carry out its tasks.
