The Washington Post’s account of Trump’s solution to the Ukraine conflict

The Washington Post announced in a report that if he gets to the White House, Trump intends to resolve the war in Ukraine by handing over part of the country to Russia.

Donald Trump, the former US president, believes that he can end the conflict in Ukraine by pressuring Kiev to hand over Crimea and Donbass to Russia.

Washington Post reported, quoting an informed source: Former US President Donald Trump said in a private interview that he could end Russia’s war in Ukraine by pressuring Ukraine to cede some of its territories. Trump’s proposal includes forcing Ukraine to cede Crimea and the border region of Donbass to Russia.

It is noteworthy that during his election campaign, Trump repeatedly promised to solve the situation in Ukraine by winning the election. Trump emphasized that he can solve the aforementioned problem even before the inauguration ceremony.

Last January, Trump announced that he would get along with Russian President Vladimir Putin and help resolve the conflict in Ukraine quickly if he were to return to the White House.

Crimea joined Russia in March 2014 after holding a popular referendum there following a coup in Ukraine. In the 2014 referendum, 96.77 percent of voters in Crimea and 95.6 percent in Sevastopol supported joining Russia.

The referendum on the annexation of Lugansk and Donetsk republics and Kherson and Zaporozhye provinces to Russia was held from September 23 to 27, 2022. After the referendum, it was found that 99.23% of the citizens of Donetsk and 98.42% of the citizens of Lugansk voted in favor of joining Russia. They voted yes.
