It is not yet clear how the representatives of several countries will participate in this event.

According to Bloomberg, delegations from 80 to 100 countries are expected to participate in the conference. The agency notes that it is currently unclear whether China will participate in the meeting.

Swiss Foreign Ministry spokesman Pierre Alain Elchinger said: Switzerland is negotiating with Ukraine on the next steps to hold a peace conference in 2024, intelligence work with other countries is underway.

The war in Ukraine started on February 24, 2022, and during the last 2 years, it was Russia that had the upper hand in the battle fronts. However, Kiev, with the support of Western officials, is seeking to organize peace conferences to end the war without Russia’s participation.

Earlier, Genda Gatilov, the permanent representative of Russia to international organizations based in Geneva, stated that although Russia is not against any negotiations to end the war, we will not participate in the Swiss talks. Unfortunately, Switzerland has lost its neutrality by standing on the side of one of the parties to the conflict.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov also said in a conversation with Izvestia newspaper: a proposed peace meeting will not be successful until its basic principles, including allowing Russia to participate in it, are not changed.
