Local sources announced on Tuesday that three Tanzanian soldiers were killed in the Republic of Congo.

The Southern African Development Community announced in a statement that mortar fire near the camp of South African peacekeepers in the Democratic Republic of Congo killed three Tanzanian soldiers and wounded Three others led.

South African peacekeeping forces include soldiers from South Africa, Tanzania and Malawi.

Ramesh Rajasingham, Director of Coordination of the United Nations Humanitarian Office, announced late last March that the escalation of violence in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo has led to the displacement of at least 250,000 people in the past month alone. This UN official described this situation as a humanitarian crisis and said that it is estimated that 7 million people have been displaced as a result of one of the biggest humanitarian crises in the world, and it is not possible to provide assistance to many of them.

Extremist rebels in eastern Congo killed at least 22 civilians in separate attacks in early March. The United Democratic Forces, which is affiliated with the ISIS terrorist group, killed 13 people in the Mombasa region of Congo’s E-Turi province. This extremist group killed at least 11 people with machetes and guns in Kivu province.

Since they took up arms in 2021, the rebels have seized parts of this area in North Kivu.
