12 dead and injured following an explosion at a hydroelectric power plant in Italy

According to La Presse, citing Bologna province sources, the explosion that occurred on Tuesday at the Suviana Lake hydropower plant in northern Italy, between Bologna and Florence, left three dead, three injured and six missing.
The explosion occurred in a generator at minus 9 below the water level, where firefighters reported difficulty accessing the site. Local authorities have mobilized more than 40 firefighters due to the importance of the power plant for the northern Italian region.
The media added: “Enel Green Power”, the owner of the facility, said that it “quickly activated all necessary safety measures according to internal procedures to ensure proper implementation of evacuation procedures to protect its personnel.”

Following this explosion, the roads leading to this power plant were blocked and the police arrived at the scene.
It is said that it is currently not possible to investigate the cause of this incident.
