Reports indicate that Hamas rejected the American ceasefire plan. |
The Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday that Hamas has rejected the US offer of a temporary ceasefire.
Meanwhile, a senior Israeli official said Israel agreed to the proposal, although it claimed that “the plan is considered to benefit Hamas. The proposal foresees a six-week pause during which Hamas will release 40 Israeli prisoners.” and Israel releases 900 Palestinian prisoners.
However, according to this report, Hamas opposes the temporary ceasefire and prefers a permanent cessation of hostilities and the complete withdrawal of Israeli troops from the Gaza Strip.
Hamas, which is said to be holding nearly 130 Israeli prisoners, is demanding an end to Israel’s ongoing incursion into the Gaza Strip in exchange for any prisoner exchange deal with Tel Aviv.
The previous agreement in November 2023 led to the release of 81 Israelis and 24 foreigners in exchange for 240 Palestinians, including 71 women and 169 children.
It should be said that the Palestinian resistance groups started the “Al-Aqsa storm” operation from Gaza (southern Palestine) against the positions of the Israeli regime on October 15, 2023, which finally ended on December 3, 1402 (24 November 2023) A four-day temporary cease-fire or a pause for the exchange of prisoners between Hamas and Israel was established.
This pause in the war continued for seven days and finally on the morning of Friday 10 Azar (December 1, 2023), the temporary ceasefire ended and the Israeli regime resumed attacks against Gaza.
