Security Council: Israel should remove obstacles to sending aid to Gaza

The UN Security Council called for the immediate removal of all obstacles that prevent the delivery and distribution of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.

On Thursday evening, the United Nations Security Council emphasized that the Zionist regime should take more measures to provide the necessary humanitarian aid in response to the level of needs in the Gaza Strip.

In a statement, the Security Council called for the immediate removal of all obstacles that prevent the delivery and distribution of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.

Council members reiterated their concern about the catastrophic humanitarian situation and impending famine in Gaza and called on the “parties to the conflict” to respect the support that humanitarian workers enjoy.

This statement comes in the shadow of the deliberate action of the Zionist regime to prevent medical and basic needs from entering the Gaza Strip, as the American newspaper “Washington Post” published and confirmed testimonies from the Rafah crossing in Gaza.

This newspaper quoted Jimmy McGoldrick, the UN humanitarian aid coordinator in the occupied Palestinian territories, who pointed out that limited scanning devices and working hours at border checkpoints slow down the process of sending aid.

He added: if a product is rejected during the inspection, the whole truck will be returned.

The newspaper reported that an American official who visited the Rafah crossing last month said that Israel had refused to bring a box of chocolate croissants, claiming that “luxury foods are not suitable for a war zone”.

Democratic representative of the United States Chris Van Hollen, who visited Rafah last January, emphasized that the inspection process for goods entering the Gaza Strip is “absolutely strict”.

He stressed that the refusal to enter pregnancy supplies and water purification tablets is a deliberate measure to prevent the entry of urgently needed goods into Gaza, adding: This has no logical justification.
