Antonov: The new US sanctions against Russia show opposition to the negotiations between Moscow and Kiev
Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov said that the new US sanctions against Moscow show Washington's opposition to negotiations between Ukraine and Russia. |
According to Tass, Antonov stated that by imposing new sanctions against the Russian Federation, the United States sends a signal to Kyiv that it will not agree to negotiations with Moscow.
He continued: Are the new restrictions really a response to Russia’s concrete proposals to resume negotiations to resolve the Ukraine crisis? The purpose of the restrictions is clear: a signal to Kiev with instructions not to agree to anything, even if it leads to death on the front.
He also called the US ban on importing aluminum, copper and nickel from Russia an unjustified and political action.
Washington and London banned the trading of Russian aluminum, copper and nickel in the metal exchange markets and their entry into America and England.
The US Treasury announced on Friday that based on the new sanctions, the markets of the London Metal Exchange and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange are prohibited from accepting new Russian aluminum, copper and nickel products.
England also announced that the current transactions of Russian metals in world markets are exempted from new sanctions in order to avoid instability in the markets.
