Iraq insists on setting a timetable for the end of the coalition mission

Al-Sudani emphasized in this statement: The purpose of this trip is to move the relations between Iraq and the United States to a new stage, including the activation of the clauses of the framework agreement. It is a strategy that is in line with the plans of our government regarding economic and financial reforms and other important fields, as well as constructive partnership with different countries of the world. He will discuss the conditions of the region and the escalation of tensions in it, as well as the joint role to calm the situation and prevent the spread of conflicts. In this meeting, the work of the High Military Committee between Iraq and the international coalition, which aims to reach a timetable for the end of the coalition’s mission in Iraq and the transfer of this mission to the stage of bilateral relations with the member countries of the international coalition, will be discussed. >

He stated that during his trip to America, he will also meet with the ministers of foreign affairs, defense, and treasury, as well as the national security adviser, the Chamber of Commerce, and other officials of American oil and industrial companies. This trip is within the framework of the desire to establish a sustainable strategic partnership based on mutual respect and maintaining the security, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Iraq.

In the continuation of this statement, it is stated that a government and parliamentary delegation including representatives and advisers along with some representatives from the private sector which include artisans and businessmen specializing in various fields, accompany Sudani on this trip and are supposed to have extensive discussions with American officials about bilateral relations as well as a series of economic, financial, commercial and security cases.

Before Al-Sudani’s trip to America, the High Military Committee of Iraq held a meeting with the High Military Committee of the international coalition to analyze the latest results and achievements of the withdrawal of the occupying forces. In this meeting, it was emphasized on the defense ability of Iraq in the fight against Daesh and maintaining the territorial integrity, and the need to determine the date of the withdrawal of these forces from the territory of Iraq was pointed out.
