Germany sends Patriot air defense system to Ukraine

Following the increase in airstrikes against Ukraine, Berlin will send an air defense system to the country.

Germany announced that it will send a Patriot air defense system to Ukraine so that the country can bolster its strained military and prevent Russian airstrikes.

According to AFP, the statement of the Ministry of Defense states: “In view of the increase in Russian air attacks against Ukraine, the German government has decided to further strengthen the air defense of Ukraine.”

Many media outlets have reported in recent weeks that Ukraine is facing a shortage of manpower, ammunition and war equipment in the second year of the war. To make up for the manpower shortage, the country has just passed a new bill that allows military recruiting offices to sue people who evade conscription. The mentioned bill also increases the punishment for people who do not show up for service on time.

In this regard, the Wall Street Journal revealed in a report last week that due to the lack of ammunition, the commanders of the Ukrainian armed forces are forcing soldiers to search for unexploded shells of the Russian army in the marshes in order to use them later.

Experts say that the amount of equipment sent to Ukraine is small and this country is facing serious challenges in its front lines.
