Armenia returned 4 villages to the Republic of Azerbaijan

For the first time, the Republic of Azerbaijan and Armenia reached an agreement on the border demarcation between them, during which 4 villages will be returned to the government of Baku.

In the 8th meeting of the State Commission for Delimitation of the Borders of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Armenia, which was held in the border area between the two countries, the two sides agreed on the return of 4 villages in the border area of ​​”Tavush” to the government of Baku.

According to the Reuters news agency, this is the first agreement between the two countries and a sign of progress in the peace process between Baku and Yerevan.

In this meeting, which was chaired by Shahin Mustafaev, Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan and Mehr Grigoryan, Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia, the two countries discussed the return of Baghanis Ayrim, Ashaghi Skipara, Hirimli and Kizil Khajili villages. “, which had occupied Karabakh in the first war, agreed to the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Also, it was decided to prepare the coordinates of the border line in the Tavush region, taking into account geodetic measurements (knowledge of measuring the size and shape of the earth) and turn it into a protocol and sign it by May 25.

Before this, the Armenian government had announced its intention to return these villages; On March 29 of last year, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced in a meeting with the residents of the border villages of Tavush region that he is going to hand over 4 border villages from this region to Baku.

Pashinyan told the Armenian residents of these villages that if Yerevan does not do this, it means the beginning of another war.
