According to the regional office of Tasnim news agency, “Qari Habibullah Badr, the military deputy of the Taliban government’s prisons administration department, in a conversation with “Shamshad”, stated that the former government officials had prepared the ground for the escape of ISIS prisoners from prisons when the Islamic Emirate came back to power in Kabul.
According to Badr, at that time about 600 Daesh escaped from “Polcharkhi” prison in Kabul and now most of them have been re-arrested and handed over to judicial institutions.
He further rejected reports about private prisons in Afghanistan and said that the ruling body will not allow anyone to build private prisons and prosecute people.
The military deputy of the Taliban government’s prisons regulation department said about the number of prisoners in Afghanistan: We have 21 thousand prisoners in all the country’s prisons, of which 1400 people are women.
Badr said: There are about 40 foreign prisoners in Afghanistan who have been arrested on charges of various crimes, they are from some neighboring countries like Pakistan.
This Taliban government official also emphasized that we do not have political prisons in Afghanistan. Taliban and on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, 3 thousand people were released from prisons all over Afghanistan.
