Popular Mobilization of Iraq: The explosion in Kalso was the result of an attack
The Popular Mobilization of Iraq says that the explosion of the Kalso military base was caused by an attack. |
The Popular Mobilization Forces of Iraq (Al-Hashd al-Shaabi) emphasized that initial reports indicate that the recent explosion at their command post in Kalso military base was due to an attack.
This group’s statement contradicts Iraqi government sources, who stated that no drones or fighters were present in the airspace during this incident.
The Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces said that the investigation to determine the cause of the explosion and arrest the perpetrators of this attack is still ongoing.
Iraqi media reported the explosion at the “Kalso” military base in the north of Babil province (south of Baghdad). The Kalso base is a joint base of the Iraqi army, the federal police and the Al-Hashd al-Shaabi forces.
Al-Hashd al-Shaabi organization announced that the American bombing was the cause of the explosion in this base. An American official, however, claimed in an interview with PBS that the American army did not have any activity in the area where the explosion occurred.
The Central Command Headquarters of the US Army (CENTCOM) also rejected the reports about the air attack of this country on a military base in Babil province of Iraq.
