An American officer was shot dead

Chicago police in America announced that a 31-year-old police officer was shot dead on Sunday night while returning home.

U.S. Police Officer Larry Snelling told reporters that the officer was returning home in military uniform and was wearing something over his uniform to cover it up, as off-duty officers do, according to RT.

The officer was shot multiple times and died at a Chicago hospital on Sunday, Snelling added. Without anyone knowing the motive of the attack.

The officer’s car was stolen, but the police, citing preliminary investigations, do not confirm that the shooting was the result of the car theft. The American police have not arrested anyone yet.

The officer was the victim of a crime he was investigating, Snelling said. This officer worked in Chicago for six years and was killed just two days before his 31st birthday.
