Venezuela’s president described the reimposition of US sanctions against his country as a “serious mistake” and said: The United States respects one word of the agreement signed last October in Qatar. He is referring to talks held by Qatar in September 2023 that led to a prisoner swap in which 10 Americans and 18 Venezuelans were released, and Venezuela said that Washington has also voted to end sanctions in the event of a presidential election in 2024.
